Whenever multiple microphones are used for a recording, phase cancellation may occur. Some engineers ignore the fact and keep their tracks dull. Some try to fix the problem manually. But the smart ones let MAutoAlign do the job for them. Automatically - to save time for creative activities.

MAutoAlign Key Features

Know your problem

Phase cancellation is caused by the speed of sound which is relatively slow. That allows the same audio signal to be received by each mike at slightly different times. The difference depends on the distance of each from the sound source, surrounding walls etc. Some frequencies cancel others out and the audio loses punch. This phenomenon is always present. Just the levels vary. And it cannot be fixed physically. So the first step is to acknowledge the problem and then find a way to fix it.

Let the machine work for you

The solution is to delay each of the recorded tracks by a certain number of samples. Some engineers try to do this manually. However, delays of around 500 samples between microphones are not uncommon. So even with just four microphones, this gives us more than 62,500,000,000 possibilities! Do you want to waste your time trying to find the right one? MAutoAlign does that automatically.

Extremely easy to use

MAutoAlign finds the ideal delays and polarity inversions automatically. Just insert an instance of the plugin on each track that you want to fix and click a button. That's it. No complicated routing nor side-chaining is needed at all. MAutoAlign finds all other plugin instances automatically and does a great job in the background within a second.

No sound quality change

By default, the plugin only delays each track and possibly inverts the polarity of some of them. But no filtering is applied, nothing that would alter the signal in any way is done. You can expect pristine audio quality with improved attack and minimum phasing problems.

Spectral phase compensation

MAutoAlign performs something unimaginable. It actually fixes the phase for each frequency in all tracks, if desired. Not only it estimates the ideal delays and polarity during the analysis. MAutoAlign also finds the ideal phase rotation to minimize cancellations. This means it can compensate the phase differences caused by 3D nature of the instruments recorded by the microphones and other recording equipment. So now you can actually equalize the tracks without worrying about phase cancellations!

Adjust the GUI style and size

MeldaProduction plugins feature the most advanced GUI engine on the market. It is freely resizable and lets you apply various styles from vintage to supermodern. You can also you choose your favourite controllers - knobs, sliders or buttons, whichever you like the most.

All the descriptions are nothing comparing to putting hands on the plugin yourself. No saving limits. No noises. No boundaries. Engage the plugin in your project for real and fully exploit its powers for two weeks.

64-bit audio quality at ANY sampling rate

The plugin provides the maximum audio quality you can get. It uses internal 64-bit audio processing and can handle any sampling rate. 192 kHz or even higher.

MAutoAlign: Yes, of course, you can phase align the 'hard way', but think of the time saved being able to automate the process, especially on a huge multi-piece miked drum kit. I love the plug-in when running a Bass DI, Mic'd cabinet and Amp DI simultaneously. Easy, effective!
